Thanks this is insightful, and I dare say you are correct in suggesting we need to be recalibrating what we expect and how we'll evaluate engineers (and engineering leaders).

The problem for juniors I'd imagine is - what will be their route to get the experience to know good from bad. Are companies willing and geared up to do this in the age of predominantly AI-generated code? Will it be up to the biggest companies to carry the industry?
